Hello Everyone,
Mom started chemo again last Thursday at City of Hope. Right now she is one gemzar only. In a couple of weeks the Dr. will conduct another CT scan and then assess if gemzar is the best route. Again, Moms main problem at this time is the fluid that accumulates in her abdomen. She now needs paracentesis every 3 or 4 days. The swelling gives her a lot of discomfort. We are going to the City of Hope tomorrow to consult with a surgeon there, as to whether or not a stent of some type could be implanted that would consistently drain this abdominal fluid. Although the paracentesis gives her relief from the discomfort, being poked with a needle every couple of days is painful for her as well. Hopefully the Dr. tomorrow will have an alternative option for her.
Please continue to keep Mom in your thoughts and prayers.
Bye for now, Michelle.

  • Hi Michelle,
I want you to know I have been reading your updates and following your mom's progress. I am Audrey's mom and once was a neighbor to your family many years ago. I pray for your mom and your family daily. She is very blessed with a family that loves and supports her so much. Please know how much I appreciate your postings. Just because you are not hearing from people doesn't mean they are not reading your updates. It is just hard to know what to say except we are all praying for your prayers to be answered. Love and prayers, Jo Ann Smith-Dona

  • Michelle, thanks for the blog reports. I think of your mom often. I now have a friend that was just diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He is still seeing the Oncologist, so we really don't know to what extent of the cancer in his body.

I am so proud of you Kay the way you keep on fighting this, you will win. There always seems to be something new to try.

I am sorry you are uncomfortable a lot. Good there is something that gives you relief for a while.

This friend is the husband of a dear friend that passed away 7 years ago. We were neighbors in Amarillo. Our boys are the same age. Richard and I became really close friends about 4 years ago. The boys all know him and love him.

He was a cigar smoker so we are assuming that is where the cancer came from. Unlike you who has never been a smoker.

Anyway Kay, and all of you. I am still thinking and praying. We look at the Blog all the time.

    Keep your faith.

    Love Pat and family
